Inconel 718 Material Properties

  • It exhibits outstanding high-temperature strength, capable of withstanding continuous high-temperature loads without softening or deformation.
  • It possesses excellent creep and fatigue resistance, maintaining good fracture toughness even at high temperatures, resisting impact and stress concentration.
  • It maintains excellent oxidation resistance in high-temperature environments, forming a dense oxide film on its surface to effectively resist high-temperature oxidation corrosion, making it suitable for high-temperature oxidizing environments such as nuclear reactors and gas turbines.
  • Through the synergistic effect of elements such as nickel and chromium, it possesses comprehensive corrosion resistance, adapting to a variety of harsh corrosive environments.
  • It has excellent hot-working and weldability properties, enabling the production of various products ranging from micro-fine welding wires to large forgings.
  • It possesses good radiation resistance, making it suitable for nuclear engineering components such as nuclear reactor pressure vessels and control rod drive mechanisms, ensuring long-term service stability.

Inconel 718 Alloy Accessories Application

  • Oil & Gas: Inconel 718 Instrumentation Accessories are widely used in subsea valves, safety valves, vent valves, wellhead equipment, downhole tools, and high-pressure sealing systems.
  • Aerospace: Inconel 718 Alloy Accessories are used to manufacture critical materials for aircraft engine turbine disks, compressor blades, and combustion chamber components.
  • Nuclear Industry: Inconel Valves are used in reactor pressure vessel O-ring sealing systems, positioning grids, fuel element gaskets, and other critical components.
  • Marine Engineering: Nickel Alloy Valve Parts are used in deep-sea drilling tools, valves, and pipe fittings, performing excellently in high-chlorine environments.

Processing

(1) For complex structural components such as valve bodies, hot forging is preferred; For ring valve components, injection molding process can be used; Complex special-shaped parts can be superplasticized using the molding process.

(2) The hot-processed billet needs to be cold processed to remove surface defects, refine the grains, and improve dimensional accuracy. It mainly includes turning, milling, drilling, grinding, and other processes.

(3) The valve sealing surface needs to be precisely ground and polished, and the surface roughness is controlled at Ra≤0.8μm to ensure sealing performance and avoid media leakage.

(4) Choose the appropriate heat treatment system according to the service conditions of the valve. The core purpose is to precipitate the reinforced phase, eliminate the processing stress, and refine the grains.

(5) Precision grinding, lapping, and other processes are used to correct the deformation of the components after heat treatment to ensure that the key dimensions meet the design requirements.

(6) Passivation treatment is used in conventional scenarios, and for strong corrosion and high wear conditions, plasma can be sprayed with cemented carbide coating to enhance surface wear resistance and corrosion resistance.

(7) Testing throughout the whole process of processing, such as dimensional accuracy, mechanical properties, sealing properties, surface quality, and flaw detection, etc.
