Tungsten W TIG Electrodes

Overview

Tungsten W TIG Electrodes is a key component used in the TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding process. It is a non-melting electrode made of pure tungsten or tungsten doped with rare earth oxides, with excellent physical and chemical properties.

Advantages

  • Ultra-high melting point, strong thermal stability, high thermal conductivity, and suitable for rapid heat dissipation.
  • Resistant to chemical corrosion, almost no chemical reaction with welding materials, ensuring the purity of the weld.
  • Strong electron emission ability, small electrode loss, strong current carrying capacity, suitable for small currents.
  • High strength, high density, long service life, suitable for long-term continuous welding.

Application

Tungsten W TIG Electrodes is suitable for AC welding processing in industries such as aerospace, automobile manufacturing, electronic equipment, shipbuilding, high-pressure vessels, petrochemicals, and medical equipment, and can ensure the long-term operational stability of various industrial equipment.

  1. Aluminum and aluminum alloy welding: Pure tungsten performs well in AC TIG welding, and is particularly suitable for welding aluminum plates and aluminum profiles with a thickness of less than 5mm (such as aluminum alloy doors and windows, and thin-walled aerospace parts).
  2. Magnesium and magnesium alloy welding: Pure tungsten electrodes have a soft arc in AC mode, and the heat input is controllable, which can reduce the overheating deformation of magnesium alloys. It is often used for welding automobile wheels and shells.
  3. Copper alloy welding: Pure tungsten can be used for AC TIG welding of copper and brass, and is particularly suitable for precision welding of thin copper plates, such as copper pipes and electronic component connections.
  4. Automobile manufacturing: Used for welding of body structures, engine components, chassis components, etc.
  5. Shipbuilding industry: Used for welding of ship structures to meet the strict requirements of ships for welding quality.

Process

Tungsten Inert Gas Welding (TIG) is a kind of arc Welding method with a Tungsten W TIG Electrodes as a non-melting electrode and Inert Gas (argon, helium, etc.) as a shielding Gas.

①Preparation of high-purity tungsten powder, a pure tungsten electrode without adding alloy elements. If the preparation of alloy tungsten (such as cerium tungsten) needs to be doped in this stage, CEO2 powder (content 1.8%-2.2%) , mixing evenly.

②Loading dies are evenly pressed into the bar blank to ensure uniform distribution of internal structure.

③High Temperature Sintering ensures the density, improves the strength of the material.

④Forging, multi-pass drawing, annealing treatment, eliminating work hardening, to avoid fracture.

⑤Precision grinding, electrode tip forming. DC welding: Acute Angle (20 °-30 °), ARC concentration; AC welding: Blunt (45 °-60 °) or hemispherical, reduce the loss.

⑥Through the electrolytic polishing or mechanical polishing, remove grinding burr.

⑦Carry out visual inspection, dimensional accuracy, and other quality tests, and the use of a vacuum to guarantee.
